Ding Dong, the Witch is Dead

Something I just overheard while Marley and Lucy were playing pretend:

Marley: "Well, Mom and Dad are dead. Now we can do whatever we want!"

And frankly, it's not the first time I've heard them playing a game where their parents are dead. Not just away on vacation or out shopping, but dead. So, um, how should I be feeling about this?

Well, hey...at least you won't have to worry about whatever it is they get to do once you're dead.

I'm laughing so hard right now that I just can't think of anything witty to write. Dylan's going through this death stage lately, all his story end with... "so and so died". I'm hoping that's pretty normal (talk) for a five and a half year old boy and that I haven't raised some kind of sociopath!

I have to tell you that pretty much all my kids' pretend games begin with the parents being dead. They also have this thing about the oldest and the youngest children. They are always somehow the coolest. As a middle child myself, I resent it.

(I am going to solicit you to look at my blog and let me know what you think of Addison's story!)

That is HILARIOUS! (I love the photo...)

I never pretended my parents were dead, just divorced. Does that mean something too?

You better sleep with one eye open...at ALL times!
